Leadership Development event (LDE) Leadership Development Events provide an opportunity for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual competitions are used to reinforce what is taught in the classroom. All LDE events have elimination rounds at the district and area before the state level competition.
Career Development Events (CDE) Career Development Events build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. These events are designed to challenge the student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. CDE’s have elimination rounds at the area and state level of competition. Also many of these events do qualify for National competition and/or offer scholarship opportunities.
Speaking Events Speaking Development Events provide a means for FFA members to develop their ability to express themselves on a given subject. Students are encouraged to develop their communication skills and learn to formulate their remarks for presentation in a variety of situations. All Speaking events have elimination rounds at the district and area before the state level competition.
