Supervised Agriculture Experiences (SAE’s) are what separates agriscience classes from being just another high school elective!

Although traditional animal projects are still vital a part of many SAE’s, a quality SAE doesn't have to involve a livestock plan.  It can be an ag mechanics project, a work experience, a science fair venture or even an exploratory leadership endeavor.

Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) Projects are a vital component of a quality agricultural education experience. An SAE program is a planned practical agricultural activity which supports skill and competency development, career success and application of specific agricultural and academic skills a student has learned through classroom instruction.

Quality SAE programs are actual, hands-on application of concepts and principles learned in the ag classroom.  Students are supervised by ag teachers in cooperation with parents, employers and other adults who assist them in the development and achievement of their educational and career goals.

The FFA organization provides support for effective SAE programs, along with motivational activities and award incentives available through funds raised by the Texas and National FFA Foundations. The three components of Agricultural Education working in combination - Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), Agricultural Education (Class Work) and FFA - provide members with an advantage in the job market, in attaining scholarships and college enrollments, in starting their own business and in developing a plan for success in life.
